The '06 Cigare shows the family flavor profile of red fruits,
herbal, and earthy notes in a savory medium-bodied package. But it
is quite a different wine!
A blend of syrah, grenache, and cinsault with just a soupçon of
mourvèdre, it makes for a bright and wonderfully gamey wine. Very
youthful, with toasty notes of cherry, birch, sassafras, and
pomegranate.
Pair this lively red with an array of fresh and savory vegetable
dishes alongside a carpaccio of tuna or beef. A rare steak in any
number of variations (tri-tip, hanger, New York, filet) would also
pair beautifully, as would more exotic fare like chicken tikka
masala or Tandoori lamb chops.
The '06 is is drinking beautifully right now, and will continue to
age gracefully for the next 2 to 3 years.
