Picpoul, sometimes “pique-poule”, or lip-stinger, is an exceptionally beloved cépage of Southern France, lending balance to cuvées that might otherwise veer off into the direction of the fulsome.
The Vin Gris Réserve represents a rather unorthodox method of élevage, whereby the wine reposes anaerobically in 5-gallon glass demijohns (bonbonnes) and is stirred monthly. This unique treatment imparts a subtle savoriness and toasty creaminess to the wine.

This wine is all about elegance, and seems to disarmingly suggest a Burgundian take on Châteauneuf, if such a notion can be fashioned. This is not an ordinary wine.
Tempranillo is the diminutive form of temprano, or “early”, but there is nothing oily or early about this wine, which comes from the ultra cool wind tunnel that is the Ventana Vineyard in the blustery Salinas Valley.
