“It doesn't take long for twelve years to fly by and for an (albeit unspeakably cute) micro-human - that would be my daughter Amélie (Vintage 2003) - to become transformed into a graceful young danseuse. This wine was made from a single barrel of exceptional lot of Syrah and dedicated to a rather exceptional young woman; the wine, like Amélie, cannot walk across a room without breaking into dance."  - Randall Grahm

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Color: Dark and opaque with a shade of purple. Crimson edge and no hint of tawniness. Nothing in the color would give even the tiniest hint that this is a twelve-year-old wine. Nose: Pure purple fruits with some chalky minerality and the barest whiff of mint. Breathe deeper and a smoke-infused milk chocolate aroma becomes apparent. The fruit is quite aristocratic in the style of confiture de framboise served in a gilded cup at very posh hotel. With thirty minutes of air, wintergreen aromas join the party. Palate: Tight with black raspberry flavors. Complimentary acidity. Remarkable for the purity of dark fruit plus the aromas of a good Boeuf Bourguignon (beef, dark mushrooms, and root vegetables) Finish: Finish is moderately long with a brisk steely finish.
