With a dark, brooding nose at the moment, this wine is a coiled Kundalini serpent. In the mouth, you get that this is a wine of preternatural power and concentration. Exceptionally lush and supple—tons of dark fruit—cherry, blackberry and mulberry, utterly seamless from a tannic perspective, with a finish one can only describe as endless.
2015 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Silver Medalist
This was the most impressive single batch of Grenache fruit I have ever chanced to encounter chez Doon. From a selected clone of Grenache alleged to have originated from an extremely well-regarded, let’s rephrase that, from the most well-regarded domain in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one known for making 100% Grenache cuvées of atypical elegance.
Food Pairing Notes
Pork stew with hard cider & parsnips, french onion soup gratinée, aged cheddar, lamb souvlaki.
