Sparkling wine cheers our hearts in so many ways. Whether it is the electrically vibrant scintillation of the fizz that suggests the notion of transcendence, or if it just serves as a useful wake-up call to the wondrous miracle of our simple existence, well-made sparkling wine is, au fond, a true delight. Vermentino travels under many noms de grape, in Provence known as Rolle, in Liguria as Pigato, in Piedmont as Favorita. What is important is that, carefully tended, it is a Mediterranean grape capable of true elegance. Lemony, citrus with a mild scent of garrigue, it expresses a slightly saline elegance—tears of joy and laughter.

Tasting Notes
Very crisp, natural acidity. Fragrance of sundry citrus and lemon balm. On the palate, continuation of lemon-lime (Meyer lemon/ Bearss lime) notes with a mild understory of subtle herbal (rosemary?) elements. Minimal astringency and exceptionally clean finish with admirable length. Definitely showing signs of ability to age gracefully.
Vineyard Notes
Both the Cedar Lane and Beeswax Vineyards are located in the Arroyo Seco AVA within the Santa Lucia mountain range of Monterey County. Soils are Arroyo Seco gravelly loam, with river stones that absorb the heat during the day and radiate in the evening. The vineyards are nearby to each other and closer to the valley floor between 300-500 ft. The valley has a cool climate with Pacific ocean breezes every afternoon.
