The Pack includes one bottle of each of the following wines:
2016 Vin Gris de Cigare Réserve
50% Grenache, 15% Grenache Blanc, 12% Cinsaut, 12% Mourvèdre, 8% Carginane, 3% Roussanne · On the nose, one gets cassis, pink grapefruit and the rather comforting fragrance of strawberry and rhubarb nose. Good acidity with a slight astringency (this is the so-called Dark Side/Anti-Sweetness and Light Aspect that I love so much in the ’16 vintage. There is enormous depth to the wine and it possesses something like an infinity pool finish. The wine certainly develops well in the glass with air and with time. Be very careful not to serve it too cold.
2015 Le Cigare Blanc
55% Grenache Blanc, 36% Roussanne, 9% Picpoul · The wine is rich and elegant at the same time – great persistence on the palate but with a refreshing acidity and a slightly chalky mineral aspect. This is a wine that you definitely want to serve with a rich beurre blanc, though a lobster risotto would also serve quite nicely. Rich and luscious, there is plenty of glycerol and non-trivial extract present; Le Cigare Blanc remains a great vin de gastronomie, pairing well with rich, buttery dishes.
2011 Le Cigare Volant Réserve “en bonbonne"
37% Mourvèdre, 34% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 9% Cinsault · 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast · Beautiful, deep violet robe, not quite saturated color, but nary a trace of rust. First nose is peppermint, cherries, and of course deep, loamy earth—almost the scent of decaying leaves. What I’ve loved best about the Cigare Réserve wines is their texture—utterly seamless and sleek, and secondarily, their quality of umami, no doubt a function of the glutamate released from the autolysis of yeast cells during the élevage. The wine has a very satisfying richness, an aura of confident power and authority, but it is in noway overbearing.
2013 Syrah "Le Pousseur"
100% Syrah · An incredibly accessible wine, great by the glass, and was named one of Food & Wine magazine's best Thanksgiving bargain syrahs! If you're looking to serve an alternative main course at your Thanksgiving table, in addition to pairing beautifully with turkey, Le Pousseur also pairs perfectly with roasted rack of lamb, and even portobello mushrooms filled with stuffing.
